Following an invaluable week at the Trans-Tasman Junior Training Camp, nine North Harbour players, alongside other NZ juniors, took to the courts in Melbourne to compete in the 2026 Yonex Elite Series 2 and Junior Circuit 6 U13 and U17 tournaments.
The event provided a unique opportunity for New Zealand’s young athletes to test themselves against Australian opposition. With limited opportunities for New Zealand juniors to compete regularly against their Australian counterparts, the tournament presented both a challenge and a valuable learning experience.
Competing across singles, doubles and mixed doubles disciplines, the North Harbour contingent delivered an impressive set of results, highlighting the strength of the association’s junior programme.

Beyond the outstanding results, the week provided an important opportunity for players to gain international match experience, learn from new opponents and continue their development both on and off the court.
The tournament served as excellent preparation for the upcoming New Zealand Junior Team Championships, which will be held in Palmerston North from 5–8 July. The experience gained in Melbourne will undoubtedly benefit the players as they prepare to represent North Harbour on the national stage.
A huge thank you goes to all players, coaches, parents, organisers and supporters who contributed to making this experience such a success. Opportunities such as these play a vital role in the development of our young athletes, and we look forward to seeing the players build on their performances in the weeks ahead.
