Badminton North Harbour’s Amy Wang is set to compete at the 5th International Badminton U16 SHONAI 2026, taking place from 25–26 July 2026 at Tsurushin Arena Komagihara in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata, Japan.
The international event brings together some of the most promising young badminton players from around the world. The tournament is open to players born in 2010 or later, with competition contested in Boys’ Singles and Girls’ Singles. Players will compete in round-robin group matches before the leading players progress to the knockout rounds. All matches will be played using the BWF rally-point scoring system, with the best of three games to 15 points.
Amy will be joined by Ben Rambaud from Counties Manukau, with the pair being coached by Kenneth Yew throughout the tournament.
This event provides an outstanding opportunity for both players to gain valuable international experience, test themselves against high-quality opposition, and continue their development on the world stage.
